    Piranesi Gone?

    For all those Revit/Piranesi users out there:

    If you haven't already heard, the UK branch of Informatix no longer exists. All positions have been made redundant and eliminated. I've been trying to reach out to customer support in Japan about the future of the software but haven't gotten any reply. Also, I can't register the software anymore because it tries to connect to the UK website which also no longer exists. So don't uninstall the software if you can help it until support gets figured out...

    Future doesn't look to bright, which is a shame because I really enjoyed using this software. If anyone else hears anything else, please share

    I came across a copy of Piranesi in our software storage. No one currently employed here has any idea what it does. Can you give me a brief overview, in case it becomes usable again?

      It's like photoshop on steroids. Basically it takes a still image of your model but in addition to knowing the x/y coordinates it also knows the z (depth) coordinate of your image. Placing cutouts are automatically scaled since it knows the depth of your image. You can apply filters, materials, colors by the material type from your model or by orientation, etc. You'd have to give it a spin and play with it to really understand.

      Attached are two images I created a while ago with it...(you can do both NPR and photoreal styles)

        The render guru at my old office had created a brush that would "paint" shrubs or flowers, density controlled by stylus pressure. Piranesi handled the perspective. So he could take a rendering out of Revit or SketchUp and "paint" growies down the building, with very artistic control, in one fluid motion. So cool.
