    rehost issue

asked this question before, seems no good solution yet.

    1) in early design stage, we used ref plane as a temporary host for lighting fixture, smoke detector, etc. before architect addded or finalized ceiling in their model(s)
    2) all lighting fixture, smoke detector, etc. are face based
    3) at some point, we'll rehost these guys to ceiling(s) in linked arch model(s)
    4) rehost one by one is OK, but rehost multiple ones to ceiling will have most of these guys "not associated", i mean rehost multiple lighting fixture, smoke detector, etc. which are originally hosted on ref plane, to one single ceiling.

this is really a pain, unless i use ref plane(s) as host all the way ...

in short, how you guys solve this problem, rehost one by one?

I thought that's what generic ceilings, walls, and floors are for? Just use a generic ceiling instead. Then, change the ceiling type and everything is already hosted. Why use a RP?

you mean MEP create separate ceilings, floors, etc., not a good idea even for temporary usage, arch model normally will have multiple celings, floors, etc.

Ahhh, didn't catch this was in the MEP section. That's what I get for using the "new posts" button.

Yeah, I see what you mean now. I'd have the archie start using generic ceilings and such. I mean, you can't do anything until you have some sort of preliminary model, right? Just have them put it in there at the beginning.
