    SOPA/PIPA info

    As most of you have probably noticed, there is a lot of web real-estate that is offline or highly modified today, as a form of protest against the SOPA/PIPA laws being debated in the US Congress. If these laws pass, it will certainly affect everyone who uses the web, and I think negatively. I am not going to push a position too strongly here, and what I am doing now is while wearing a Member hat, not an Admin hat. But I will urge folks to be educated about these issues, especially those of us in the US who are in a position to apply pressure to our representatives.
    For anyone wanting some in depth writing on the topic, ArsTechnica is staying on line today with a focus on educational info.

    I've also been reading and have already signed a few online petitions, as well as sending my congressmen letters to tell them to support SOPA

      If Congress thinks they get an earful from Environmentalists, Labor Unions, and other special interests groups this will be a shocker to them. When you have giants like Wikipedia, Twitter, Google, and others all opposing a bill, while they probably account for 80% (at a guess) ?? of web usage.

      Upsetting a NYC labor union affect a lot of NYC residents (thousands?). Upsetting Google affects the majority of people using the net (millions?)
