    Revision Clouds

Is it better to place a revision cloud on a sheet or on a view within a sheet? Is there any advantage/disadvantage of doing one over the other?

I have debated this issue as well,

    a) if you place them on a sheet, they are easier to revise since you don't have to activate the view to select the revision. (less clicks)

    b) if you place them on a view, if you move a view in a sheet , the revision goes along for the ride. (no worry of forgetting to move the revision)

I was kicking aroud those same thoughts... Just wondering if one was a more accepted/preferred method in the professional world.

I would say they should go on the sheet. You tend to move views less often once you are at a revision state...and technically you are revising the sheet not revising the view.

I'd say the view. lol You have to revise the view drawing itself, right? You don't actually do anything on a sheet except plot it IMO.

There are times when you revise a sheet, with no view at all. Such as, if you delete a view / detail, you cloud the 'absense' of a view.

So invariably, there is no one way to do these things. I'm a sheet clouder...

In Revit you are revising the view...so do you reissue, print, and submit the view or the sheet to the contractor?

Well, the sheet of course, which has the revised view on it. If you delete a wall or move a door, you don't do it on the sheet, you have to revise the view, right? Maybe I'm thinking of this wrong. The view just seems to make sense to me unless, as B Arch stated, you are deleting an entire view. Then you just cloud where it used to be, which is on the sheet.

Hell, just get some crayons and cloud the drawings by hand. Problem solved.

                    Sheets clouder.
It's easier and as gdoherty states: these are the ones send to the GC. So, I don't care if the view/model changes. I want to know what happens on the sheet.
Another brain teaser: do you place a revision cloud for a change in the model that isn't issued on a sheet yet?
