    View control with underlay levels

    I need to create a couple views showing below grade parking decks with the outlines of the street level underlayed for reference. I have set my level views up and can underlay my 1st floor no problem. However the underlay includes all kinds of information that I don't want or need to see - surface parking, doors / windows etc. Is there a refined way to control the underlay visibility?

    If I set it to show RCP it works and for this use is probably OK since this is all schematic and there isn't any information in the RCP. Farther down the line however this won't work well.

    VG are view dependent, you can set up a view template that is specificaly geared towards your desired outcome or just go into the VG of the particular view you are using for this schematic presentation/document. With that that said, you have indicated RCP works for you presently....all you need to do is setup the VG in the ViewTemplate to reflect similar information/object control (doors, windows, etc.... all would be off).

      Or, you could turn on the underlay, use the linework tool to outline what you need (assuming it's a quick outline), then turn off the underlay. This is how I show roof lines for canopies and awnings above on my floor plan. Like I said, though, only if it's a quick outline, like the perimeter of a slab. If you need it to be detailed, then use a view template for the underlay as bassed suggested.
