Nested Families not updating in Project

I've got our doors made up of nested families (one for the frame, panel, and swing). When I load the doors into a empty project they flex as they're supposed to but when I load them into a particular project the nested families (not sure if it's just one or all) don't flex correctly. They take on whatever the default size is for the door and stay that size regardless of their parameters.

I'm assuming it's something in the file but thought I'd check in to see if there's anything I'm missing that might be causing the problem. I've taken to making each unique size a unique family but that's a workaround that I'm hoping I can let go.

    Any of this sound familiar?

Looks like it might be something with my door family afterall... or maybe something to do with Type parameters. I just tried Beck's doors and they work just fine and they use nested families also but with Instance parameters.

I've attached the problem family. Maybe someone can take a look and tell me what, if anything, I've done wrong.
