    Trees won't render

This may be a dumb question, but my trees appear as grey cut out looking images. How do I get them to render so they look like a real tree. The rest of my building is in realistic, why aren't the trees?

I believe that you have to do a full render to make the tree's realistic?

That's just showing you the "realistic" visual style.
To render, you need to hit the render button. OOTB default shortcut key is RR (I'm pretty sure, I changed it some time ago), or hit the teapot on the lower left side of the view window.

I would suggest setting up a camera first. Don't just render the actual 3D view.

            Another tip:
Set up the camera (it's under the 3D view dropdown). Once the camera view opens (after you place the camera), use the grips to crop the view the way you want it. Now, select the crop region. You'll see the size crop tool in the ribbon. Select it, check Scale (lock proportions), and change the width or height to whatever you want. If you are rendering for an 8.5 X11 sheet, for instance, change the width to 11", the height will stay proportionate. Now, when you render, it won't be a tiny picture. Or, if you want to use it on your cover sheet, you could make it 30" wide so it takes up the width of the sheet. That took me forever to figure out.
