    Creating custom green roof with Hills

    Hey,

    I am having a rather difficult time trying to create Renzo Pianos California Academy of Science building, any tips on how i can create the roof?

    Hi,

    you should look at Nucleus Project, now part of Vasari project2.1 here.

    Create the main mass and the colliders, play with Nucleus, then floor by face. It should work.

      Julien, what makes you suggest Nucleus for this? It's IMO doable with just a mass, or even roofs in-place...?

        Sure you're right. It was just my first thought seeing that roof; looks as it was covering big balloons....
        I play often with Vasari so that leads me to.... my previous answer.
        It's more funny.

          I would suggest a Mass, fairly easy to do... create the domes using a revolve on a extrusion base plate. Join together and apply Roof by Face.

            you could also design the undulating shapes with your massing tools by placing some 3d points on a plane. Draw a spline through 3d points and than while having all the lines selected creat your form. this will allow for you to manipulate the 3d points later on in x-ray mode and give you a more intuitive interaction with your shape for the roof.
            When you are done and happy with your result, follow the steps above and go roof by face.
