Does anyone know why I can´t see through wall openings in Eelevation?

I have created a family that cuts custom openings in walls. In 3D view they look ok, but in an elevation view they show an opaque surface hiding everything on the other side of the opening.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Go in the family and select the Opening. In the option bar, there is a checkbox for transparancy in elevation AND 3d.

If the family is face based, with a void cutting through the base, using Cut Geometry in the family, it should let you see through walls in the project in elevations and 3d.

maybe i missed something obvious, why do we need that transparancy option? opening means opening like void, right? perhaps for presentation purpose? or scheduling / quantity takeoff of openings? or clashing detection? or ..., don't laugh at me if it sounds silly even though that will most likely be the case as today is Monday and i drink too much coffee already

I suspect its old graphica tradition. Many times people want to see the hole in the wall, but they dont want to see all the crap thats behind the wall. So you can have the "opening" but you can make it so you cant actually "see through it." Stupid, in my opinion. Ive never used it.

Well, thank you Aaron and all - that's a mystery solved which has baffled me for years

Now if I could only discover why void extrusions used in a family sometimes remain orange and visible in all views.

In the family or project? Seen it in project, and renaming the family in the PB forced it to regen and repaired itself...
