    Schedule Columns

    Why is it that every time I insert any schedule into a sheet, all of the columns are collapsed and I need to stretch out each one manually?

    Why does Revit not insert the schedule that way it looks in the view?

    Interesting, I have never had this happen once - something screwed up somewhere.

    Has this behavior been consistent in Revit for you, or something which has started recently?

    I would suspect it is a "last state" issue.

    If you open your template file and adjust all of the schedules - save etc - start a new project, if it is a last state issue that should sort it out.

    If it is not ........

      It's done it every time. I figured it was just the way Revit did it, but that doesn't make sense.
      It's not in a template file (I don't have one made yet, just using the OOTB ones). I'll create a new schedule, sort out all the columns like I want them, and insert it into a sheet. I always have to redo the columns.

        No seriously: this fixes a lot of these problems. And it's not difficult to add schedules to an existing template. If you have schedules in a project you wish to keep, open the template besides the project. Go to any model view of the project (section, plan, elevation, 3d, etc), find the schedule in your project browser, select it (DO NOT OPEN THE VIEW) and hit cntrl-c. Go to your template, again any model view and hit cntrl-v. Schedule and all of it's presets are pasted into your template.

            Ain´t that the truth ! But honestly, I doubt that any of us had a descent template in place within the first year... heck, +4 years for me, and it´s not by any means perfect yet

              Ive made 3, one for each company Ive worked for. Each one gets more completed. i always keep finding things that benefit from getting added to the template.

                I was probably three or four months into Revit before I created V1 template - gave up counting how many revisions since then, but worth every minute put into it. There are so many things set up in there (phases - typical plans, elevations. sections, 3d arch and structural - all of the typical schedules - all of the shadow diagrams - all of the sheets etc etc etc) that I would hate to start from scratch.

                A HUGE real time saver for small design firms like mine.

                    I vote for everyone to just post their template files. Then we can just pick the best one :laugh:
