    Parametric Brick Ledge

I'm trying to make a foundation wall with a parametric brick ledge which self shades at -8". ...

So far I've duplicated our existing foundation wall and split the layers and unlocked the brick ledge, thus allowing an easy "end extension" change. easy-peasy. Now, I want to only shade that brick ledge, not the entire wall. I'd like that ledge to self shade at only -8", but I'd settle for it to always be shaded, and then just make a new wall type that's never shaded. So, I tried making the ledge a separate material which has a solid surface pattern, but this doesn't show in the foundation plan view.

So if those of you with more Revit experience can enlighten me it would be appreciated.

I think you are on the right track.

You may need to adjust the View Depth of the Foundation Plan to see the solid hatched brick ledges. If it steps up and down a lot, you may need to create Plan Regions to individually/indpendently control the View Depth just at the brick ledge areas.
