IE I have a wood louver system which was created as a curtain wall and I want to embed a steel plate for the structure and I want this to repeat in every mullion/louver. I tried making an assembly but it didn't work.

curtain wall mullion profiles are very fussy and you cannot nest them or have anything other than a single closed profile shape

You may not be able to nest profiles but you can nest detail components. This way it will look correct in section if not in 3D.

Copy your 1st curtain-wall and simplify it to your needed louver profile only (my favorite 2nd)
or
Add the profile to the panel (not my favorite)
or
Keep your profile simple and create additional section views for detailing (my favorite 1st)

Well the problem is that I also would like to be able to see these in a 3D axo which we are producing.
I guess I could model the angle and copy and lock it to the bottom of each louver?

in that case i would do this ^^ MUCH quicker and pretty simple

Create a single mullion which shows the outline for the complete thing and then nest in detail components for more specific views like details / sections. You won't be able to see all that linework in your 3D axo anyway (unless you zoom in very far which destroys the 3D-look)
