    Wall by API

    Hi guys,

I'm working on a project which involves digitally surveying a building, loading the data into Revit and creating the geometry from that point. After this, Dutch area calculation rules need to be applied (and that's where I stick my nose in).

    My question is this:
Is it possible in API-town to create a simplified dialogue box for wall properties? He justs wants te be able to give input on a few parameters:

Width (all walls need to be Generic, width variable).
    Bearing / Non-bearing
    Room bounding or not

    Is this possible?

I would be inclined to say no, just because they are a system family. However, you could make a wall schedule that scheduled all those?

I think you misunderstood me. It's not that all the other OOTB-parameters can't be present. My client is a total noob at Revit and wants to keep it that way. The only thing he has to do is draw a wall of a particular width, choose if it's bearing or not and choose whether this wall is room bounding. So, what I'm asking for is an addin that gives you the possibility to define these 3 parameters and then draw the wall. All the other parameters can be left blank or at default settings. But they don't really have to "disappear". They can be present in the Properties dialogue box, as you stated I already made a schedule to control the other settings (except for the Room Bounding, this is not scheduable).

      Is this possible?

        Hi.

Well actually all of that is possible . If you check out the second video down here http://www.kiwicodes.co.nz/NewsFlash.aspx I have the bearing changing depending what the window lintel type is and visa versa. The room bounding is simple and the insertion of the wall is not hard. We have that working in our new Family Browser.

So short answer. Yes it can be done.

        Cheers

Thanks! Just needed that confirmed. I know absolutely nothing about the API. Tried to indulge myself on different occasions but it's so overwhelming I almost wet myself. But I needed this confirmed because I'm basing my work on the assumption that this could be done.
