Flip Control in a Generic Model Family?

Yes, by using the Control button on the Home Tab... This gives you access to 4 kinds of control:
Double Horizontal / Vertical: will mirror using the horizontal/vertical refplane SET TO ORIGIN as mirror axis.
Single Horizontal / Vertical: will mirror using both horizontal and vertical refplanes SET TO ORIGING as mirror axis.
Mind the "set to origin". Each refplane in your family can be set to "Define Origin" in the properties of this refplane. You can only have one refplane vertical and horizontal set as origin. These define the way the flip works (among other things)Last edited by mdradvies; January 18, 2011, 11:53 PM.Martijn de Riet

If you select the refplanes that are in the default template, there's a checkbox "defines origin". The intersection of the vertical and horizontal refplanes defining origin is sort of the 0,0,0-point for the family. You can reset the origin to any replane you want, but only ONE vertical and ONE horizontal. If you create a new refplane, and check Defines Origin in this one, the other one will automatically turn off.
The refplane defining origin is the refplane the flip-control uses as mirror axis when flipping.
I believe the flip-control in elevation is only available for face-based families...Martijn de Riet

I want to be able to use it at all 8 corners of a box shaped structure, like a Rubik's cube. How do I do that with a Generic Model family?I'm retired, if you don't like it, go around!

Including flip controls in the family is going to help, yes, to some extent, but you need more things. Making the family as a face-based model is essential, first. In the family, check "work-plane based" and un-check "always vertical" ; then in the project you can use "Edit work-plane" > Pick new and select faces to align to. So, you need a combination of all these things to be able to flip the family in all directions.Attached FilesFreelance BIM Provider at Autodesk Services Marketplace | Linkedin
