    Urban photoshopping

This work was done by Edgar Rubio, from Bogotá, Colombia. He did this project with Revit 2008 or 2009 when he was finishing his architectural studies at Universidad Nacional in Bogotá a couple of years ago. The project assignment was to propose a new building to replace an abandoned building that was in very bad shape. So he took a photo of the street with the existing building, did a new project in Revit, then inserted the Revit images over the same photo, showing what the street would look like with the new building.

Very nice indeed! I did something similar on a much much smaller scale though. This concerned the renovation of a monumental sigar store in our town centre. The owners were at it for several years without any luck. I proposed to create this kind of visualisation and it worked like a charm!

One can also do that to some extent with just Revit. Put the photo image and then the Camera View on a Sheet, Activate View, use Wheelie to match the real camera, move the sun around to match the photo's shadows.
