I was building a couple machines for a new project the other day and experimented with RFO benchmark to try out a couple things - mostly to figure out if I can go without dGPU on laptop.
The things I noticed is that 1) screen resolution has a measurable impact on performance; 2) Intel iGPU suffers from increased resolution a lot more than dGPU
Below is the summary of the full simplified benchmark, I picked a few of the screen setting below to run the full standard test to verify the result
i5-13600K at 5.3Ghz, 2×32GB DDR4-3200 16-18-18-38 with a freshly installed Windows 11 (22621.1105) on Revit 2020.2.3
Model Creation Benchmark
Graphics
the UHD770 performs mildly worse at QHD than on FHD, but the performance drop-off becomes much more noticeable at 4K (~25% slower on model creation and 80%+ slower on graphics). The GTX1070 fares far better when the resolution goes up.
Now I have to wonder, do Intel Iris XE or AMD Vega8 / RDNA2-12 on their APU do any better? Would anyone like to help test out these systems? Thank you very much!
