    Schedule railing material

I know that a material schedule will not pick-up the materials of wall sweeps. Is it also the case the railing materials will not populate a material schedule?

Yes. Railings are not available in a material take-off schedule. But there is a railing schedule available, which gives you fields such as "type" and "length" for every railing entity. You could add the material information in the "Type Comments" field, and if necessary, add more fields and calculated values.

No, they won't. Maybe if you create Panels using a Generic Model, make this shared and nest it into a Railing panel. And you don't use the balusters at all. But I'm guessing that would be a bit over the top...

Thanks for the confirmation. This issue (including the wall sweeps) is so weird to me. I can't figure out why they would leave this out of the material schedule?
Our office schedules all the finish and misc. materials in the project: paint, base, countertops, flooring, casework, ceilings, etc. It makes sense to me that if I place an element in the project and I will need to know what its material is, I will want to schedule it. So when I place my wall base as a wall sweep and it allows me to define a material for it, I would expect that it shows up in the material schedule. Now I have to do some work-arounds to make it work. Blah:blah:
