is there a way to control the *visible* end of a Ref Plane? Would a scope box work like they do on datums? Or is there a way to move the visible end of several Ref Planes at one time?

Nope, there's no way to control them. They don't respond to Scope Box or Crop Region. They don't have a 2D/3D switch to change the appearance per view, they won't auto-lock ends like Grids do...

even though they "end" in appearance, they are really infinite pieces of geometry. Thus the lack of controls for the "ends" which are really quite arbitrary. Ref Lines, on the other hand in the Family editor, has start and end points.Comment

Bit off topic here, but has anybody else ever felt the need to have several different coloured Ref planes. I know within family editor this would be a bonus but also within a project would be great.
