now I REALLY wish I was going to AU! I've spent two years now getting aluminum extrusion part number and cut length data from Revit to Access reports (with the help of some Revit and Access gurus btw). I'd love to figure out how to get fabrication information into the model so I can get it out for fab dwgs.

Aw hell. Should have signed up for AU sooner, as I'm not in either session yet. Can I crash? I fab stuff outta Revit all the time LOL...

  • AU 2011: Extending Your Autodesk® Revit® Models for BIM to Fabrication (Unconference)

It sounds as though my session at AU this year "Extending Your Autodesk® Revit® Models for BIM to Fabrication" will be getting a second session.

    Class Description:
Autodesk Revit products for BIM have been present in the AEC design vocabulary for nearly a decade, and in those years most companies have become proficient in the use of Revit products to produce contract documents. Many companies are now looking to extend the use of Revit products for BIM to fabrication, shop drawings, and field use drawings. This unconference session will bring representatives of these companies together to discuss the pros and cons, tips and tricks, successes, and struggles with extending our Revit models past construction documents.

    Key Learning Objectives
Discuss what changes/tools are needed from Autodesk to make Revit a competitive tool for producing fabrication drawings
Compare detailing in Revit to the use of detailing packages made specifically for this purpose
Discuss how a detailing team's design interfaces with the design team's design
Explore new or extended uses of Autodesk Revit

From my understanding the second session will be on Thursday at 3. I believe this will be posted sometime today after noon.

Just wanted to give some of my fellow RFOers a heads up if interested if they were not able to get into the first session.
