Phase Mapping Setup for a TI

    Hi all,

I am working on a shell and core (S&C) project with some retail at the ground floor (everything is new construction). We were asked to do one of the retail spaces as a tenant improvement. I have linked the S&C model into a new file so we can start working on the retail space in a separate model.

I need to show the S&C as existing construction in the TI model. How does one go about changing a linked model to existing? Everything I have read says to create a new phase in both models. The S&C model is still actively being worked on and I am hesitant to add a new phase and mess up current workflow. Is this the only way to map the phases or am I missing something?

Thanks for any help you can provide,
    Steven

Add a Tenant Phase to the Shell and Core model. Create the same phases in the Tenant model and then link them via Phase Mapping for the shell and core link. Model the tenant scope in the Tenant phase. The Shell and Core model is done in the new construction phase which is the previous phase with this setup.

      Thanks, Steve,

That is what I had thought. I have never added phase this late in the game to a model. Are you aware of any ramification? No views already created should be affected.

It shouldn't be too problematic if it is as simple as you described. You're not changing anything in the S/C model other than adding a future phase to help align the timeline between the models. As long as all the work is done in the tenant model's own phase it shouldn't intrude on the past if it is linked into the S/C model. You won't be able to show the Tenant scope in any views in the S/C model unless the view is assigned to the tenant phase too.
