    Visibility profiles in Families

    Hello all,

I have found the below window family. When I import it in a Revit project in a Coarse and Medium view I am not able to see the detailed profiles (I know that thera are hidden in the family). Instead of the detailed profiles I see some others profiles simplier.

When I edit the family, I cannot find where and how the simplier profiles are designed. Could someone tell me?

Generally I know how to contol the visibility in the LOD, my problem is these simplier profiles..

    Thank you in advance!

From what I can see the 3D profile is hidden in the plan view, which means it is invisible in all detail levels and the 2D Detail Item is supposed to be shown in all detail levels.

I would turn on the plan visibility of the 3D geometry in the Visibility/Graphics Override screen and turn it off in the fine detail level and only show the 2D Detail item at the fine detail level if you really want to.

When you edit the nested family (Frame SidePanel Detail Triple) the visibility settings for the lines are set to "Fine". Change those settings & load it back into the family & prob solved.

I'd recommend (Zooming from afar & close on this process) not attaching yourself to nested Detail Items in hosted elements to Assemblies in general. From my perspective when you do enlarged details you won't be able to Tag/Keynote those detailed elements, is the design intent matching. So ultimately you're adding more coordination/work, & you'll be needing to do "work-arounds" like placing Detail Items mimicking the Nested Detail, or Detail Items that are "Line Based" Lines just in order to tag/keynote them, & or other added processes.

This is my train of thought, but I'm never really Pidgin Holden to any Process as it's very healthy to always scrutinize all aspects to keep improving. I have no Sacred Cows other than is it "both" Efficient & Effective, & logical.

I did it but If I turn on the visibility of the profiles only in Front/Back (as the family that I found) I miss everything.

Check the image 1 .. I want the first result (only the window projection lines, not the profiles lines - like the second window)
And also I want in the Coarse/Medium level to have the profile in Image 2 ( I did it with the way that you told) but how I can also do the result in imgae 1?

I cannot share with you the family because of the space.

          Thank you!!

Well, I think I got it, I checked the Sidepaneldetail-triple and I saw that they have created details item..

            Thanks a lot!

Either by adding another Loop on top of the existing Lines in the nested family, but with different Visibility Settings. Just re-engineer some of the OOTB Division 08 Detail Items & you'll see some/most of them are built that way.
