Civil 3d / 3D dwg coordination in revit

We are being asked to bring in underground utilities for use in revit. The civil engineer sent a dwg file with pipes in it. If I open this in acad I see 3d lines, but if I bring it into a blank revit project I don't see anything, if i explode the dwg I see some end caps but its not usable. Is there a workflow published for this type of coordination? Or do I just tell them to do it in Navis?

Probably a C3D dwg with "smart" Pipe object in it. For coordination purposes have them make the Pipe Network into Solids to export to .dwg. That way you at least have the geometry.

Pipes from Civil 3D wont show up in Revit, without bouncing around to other formats like (possibly) IFC or something else. Or bring them in as Navis files, and then youll need to use Shaded mode. But "pipes" have never come over, that ive ever seen.

By people who don’t know any better. Not a crime so long as they’re not ignoring those who do.

Our Team is asking, which is made up of 2 GC's and 2 Architects. I've got them in IFC now but I can't even pull spot dimensions off of the objects, even though they are Generic Model elements. I'm wanting to do this otherwise I will need to remodel them natively and for an entire airport that is a lot of work, like the rest of my life. So if I can get these converted to a usable format I will be a happy camper

I believe there is a process in Civil 3D to export to AutoCAD and that ought to make them into elements that Revit will show.

BricsCAD BIM offers a good IFC DWG workflow. Try that for a change!
