Remove objects from a model, but retain those objects for other use

In Revit 2014 I have a model that I would like to remove some objects yet retain those removed objects for another use. How can this be done?
Normally all I can seem to do is delete those objects in order to remove them from the model. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
Thanks in advance for any help to get my head off the brick wall.

You should just be able to delete them. If you need to place them again then you can select the family from the type selector or the project browser.

I specifically mean to edit the model, then remove certain items (Not Delete) from the editing process, but yet they remain on screen for me to use in another way.
I tried to copy clip them to another project, but it would not let me do that.
I am retired from heavy use of Revit and I know in the past I was able to do this, just do not remember how.
My login name "NotSoMuch" means exactly that. I do not use Revit so much anymore as I used to.
I have been retired now for almost 3 1/2 years, so I forget more than I knew it seems.
I used to use Revit while employed at an Architect firm, so was using it regularly and quite heavily. After retiring my usage dropped from 90% of my workday to less than 1% of my retirement year.

Do you mean isolate elements (you're editing) in view?

I would group them, including at least one element that will not be deleted. Then duplicate the group and in this new group delete your hart out. You can always switch back to the original group. Is that what you mean?
There must be a better way...

I think this could be it, not sure
