    easy way to override graphics for linked model

    i may miss something simple, is there an easy way to make linked model colored and/or transparent? i mean all at once, not going through VG > Revit links > custom ..., even better - globally not view specific!

    seems OOTB function doesn't work, i mean selecting link instance and Override Graphics in View ...

    well, for MEP modeling, Halftone and Underlay alone for linked model is not good enough, at least for me

    Guessing here...put on a workset then filter all categories by workset?

      Filter by workset works great, but you have to have a workset with the same name in the linked and host models for the filter to recognise it.

      My preferred method is;

      - In each model set up ideally just 1 workset for actually working in (Or as few as possible.. I am really against the Workset per Cad Layer method that some people like to use and these would all have to be duplicated in link and host models if you want to filter links by workset). Name it the same as the model, or if you must have many worksets put the name of the model in each workset name.
      - In each model set up a workset for each of the linked models (Also handy for choosing which links to open). Name them all the same as the linked model. Dont forget to put the Type of the linked model in the right workset as well as the placed Instance.
      - This way you have consistently named worksets for every model in all models, but no more worksets than are already neccesary.
      - Make a filter (All relevant categories) for each link model workset name, using Workset Contains <Model Name>. This will work consistently because the elements in each linked model are also in a workset that contains this name.
      - Some worksets like Shared Levels and Grids are already available in all models, so make sure ppl use them

      (This might sound complicated but it works really simply in everyone's model if you can agree workset naming)

      If you have links with lots of worksets you can just duplicate them all in your host model, but I find that a messy solution..

        Definitely agree that the lack of a colour option in the halftone settings is unfortunate..

          looks like workset plus filter is the way to go even though i'm quite hesitated to use workset to control VG stuff, factory definitely should add color w/ transparency for linked model for sure, thanks all

            i did quick test using workset plus filter, doesn't work, if it's going to have linked model workshared and know exactly which worksets in linked model, then i would rather going through VG > Revit links > custom ...

            factory pls add color w/ transparency for linked model

              finally figured out the much better process, create dedicated view(s) in linked model and create/apply filter w/ all categories selected, and use that linked view in host model, that's it, doesn't matter if linked model is workshared or not, no workset for VG
