Removing / Hiding Ref planes from Linked Revit Models

    Hello all,

I have finally been let loose on Revit on a new project in London after 3 days formal training last week.

I have linked 2 No. models for other trades that im interfacing with. However there are lots and lots of ref planes on their models. This can be annoying so was wondering if there is anyway to turn them off / hide them?

Do i need to do that before linking the revit files to my model?

    Any guidance is really appreciated.

    Regards

    Scott

    VG>Revit Links>select the link in the list>Display Settings--set to Custom>Annotation Categories>turn off Reference Planes.
Also, you can/should set up View Templates for typical view types, and control display of linked models in this manner, within the view templates and apply to multiple views at once.

I, from time to time find it good to annotate to a reference plane.
So then, I am afraid to hide them because that also hides the annotation.
Anyone have any ideas on how to hide only the reference planes that only have no annotation attached to them?

From 2018 you can create a subcategory for reference planes. Do that and just leave that one turned on.

Even thou you can put them on a subcategory, you cant use this to turn off other consultants refplanes (unless they were put on a subcategory).
However, you can put your refplanes on their own workset and filter by that workset...enabling you to turn off the other consultants refplanes
