    Nvidia GeForce RTX

    So...who is getting in line for a RTX 2080ti?

    Considering the new Turing processor is supposed to bring ray tracing to a higher level in gaming....wonder what it will do for the Ray Tracing in Revit?

    The ray tracing in games is still a joke. Tomb Raider with a top of the line gaming rig can't run ray tracing and maintain over 40fps. Mid range gaming systems (like mine) look at it, laugh, start to cry and then crash.

    I suspect it'll take another year or two for the software developers to learn how to optimize ray tracing to utilize the hardware that can at least attempt to handle it in real time. 5 years from now it'll be everywhere

      So far there are only 3 games will be able to use it...BF5, the new Tomb Raider and Metro Exodus...

      My gaming rig has been in pieces for almost a year now...well it will be by November. After the funeral last year, then AU, and visiting family in California I just haven't gotten back in the gaming groove. I just picked up a Thermaltake Core P5 from our computer guys for a great price and rebuilding my system in it this weekend. I just had to buy a few more riser ribbons which should arrive tomorrow.

        I know I will be getting either a RTX 2080 or 2080ti. Most likely EVGA. I dont think it will do much for revit. I asked Enscape on twitter if they will optimize for it and it sounds like they wont but that it should still help with their raytracing. I am guessing they are just expecting a boost from the raw horsepower gains of a new architecture rather than the raytracing core on the GPU itself.

        @David -
        I dont understand your negativity towards the tech. It is bleeding edge, comprehending the real time raytracing is amazing. These games are in beta and at least BF5 showed Alpha during the demo. So there are really too many variables to be so negative. The card launches in a month and we will truely see what the RTX feature can do. It seems like they are aiming for 1080p 60fps which is more than acceptable for REAL TIME raytracing; its nuts. Think about all the calculations occurring. If you dont care about that but you have the funds to blow on a 2080ti just play your games with RTX off and enjoy the benefits of a new architecture and what it will do over the 1080ti.

        Jay sums it up pretty well here

          Let me correct that. Enscape does not use the new hardware features of RTX yet, but already runs considerably faster on the new cards. We work with Nvidia towards leveraging RTX to accelerate Enscape's real time raytracing. It will be released in a time not too far from now

            No way I'm gonna get sign-off for 2080Ti "just" for the main room, but reckon one of our Viz. peeps might get lucky - so I'm keeping my eyes out for news of an updated Steam Box/Shield solution.

              That is encouraging! Thanks for the update.

                So GeForce RTX cards are NOT SLI Enabled....but Quadro RTX cards are?

                  You need an RTX2080 or higher for NVLink support. It is a better form of SLI from the higher end quadros. One benefit is it pools the VRAM together; I am just not sure if the software needs to be written to do that or if Nvidia handles it all. I suspect it might be on the Nvidia side. I need to look into it.
