    Dynamic micropile

    Hello,
I need help creating a family micropile. The family should be able to change their length and receive a grout at the lower end, which can also be changed in length on the threaded rod.
Above, I need a nut and a counter plate. Those should be renamed but can maintain their size.
It is important that the anchor can be rotated horizontally and vertically over its contact point over a freely defined angle.
This is how it looks like:

Unfortunately, I have no inquiry with creating families.
Does anyone know a good tutorial for beginners?

There are some good examples on this forum and there are video's on Youtube that explain about families, but can't really point you to one of them.

There is a blog post about family creation that talks about bones, muscle and skin, that explains a lot (Revit OpEd: The Family Editor: Bones, Muscle & Skin) and will help you understand the process a bit more. And there is a bit of advise to test your family all the time (which is not usually mentioned in tutorials I believe). Test your family not only inside the family editor, but also in a project, especially when you just start making them. Test after each step until stuff breaks in your project and figure out why, fix it and test again.

When you have your family finished and then test for the first time, you will most likely not be able to figure out why stuff breaks.

What I would do for the rotation is probably nest the micropile family into another empty family for the vertical rotation and that one again into a new empty family and rotate horizontal.

I have an example I made before attached to this post about nested family rotation, maybe that will give you a bit of help.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
Could you tell me how I can extend the characteristics of the lower family to the highest? I would like to be able to change the parameters without having to intervene in the sub-family.

          Yes I can
When, in my example, you edit the Type of the nested family (by selecting it and clicking Edit Type in the properties panel) you see a tiny button behind the 'hoek' parameter. With this you can link the parameter from the nested family to one of the parameters in you host family. In my case I have a 'hoek' parameter in both families and linked them together. So, when I change the 'hoek' in my host family it works through to the nested family. You can keep doing this all the way down with multiple nested families if needed.

This is a powerful bit of family creation and something that is used all the time. Another example is a window frame, where you have a formula to calculate the inner width of the frame and that value is linked to the piece of glass (nested family) that sits in the frame.

Oh and in your case I'm guessing that every micropile in your project is going to have different angles, so I guess having those values as instance would be smart, or you'll end up with 100's of different types.

              Hello,
I can now change the horizontal angle.
Unfortunately, I can always adjust the length only in the family, as I can handle.
But what still does not work is adjusting the vertical angles.
I have only 3 or 4 different angles in the vertical position.
Can you please help me again?
Passing the horizontal angle to the top level has worked.

Attached you'll find my attempt. Not 100% but maybe a step in the right direction.
No time to really go into it.

                    Hello Robin,
Thanks, that helped me a lot.
I am also well prepared, there is really only one small thing left, so I'm satisfied with the model, but it does not want me. The tube under the plate will not stay in the center of my head plate if I enlarge it.

I know it's more of a luxury problem. I thought if I put the pipe on the same level as the pole, it should keep its position, but I do not sleep making a connection. For straight piles, the tube also jumps to the other side of the plate. I think that too could be solved by assigning it to the Ax.
Can you please have a look again?

                    Best regards
