Adding annotation text to families in family editor so it shows up on floor plans

I downloaded a generic family from the internet. Specifically, BIM Drawings - Drainage Products - Support

I have it open in family editor, and I cannot get a label on it to show up when I load it into the project. I don't want to use a tag, I want it to be part of the family.

I have tried using a label from another family, and loading it into the family editor. I have tried making a text parameter, but to no avail. Could someone PLEASE give me step by step direction to go about putting text on the 2D surface of this object so the text shows up on my floor plan when I load the family into my project?

    Thank you!

You need to put a Generic Annotation, in that Family, not a piece of Text.

The Generic Annotation can have a Label in it, and you can put the text in the Label.
