how to prevent shaft from cutting specific elements

    Hiya,

I need to add a ceiling to the underside of a stair, but the shaft where the stair sits cuts the ceiling making it invisible.

Is there any way I can exclude an element from being cut by a shaft?

    Thanks,

You could go around the problem by replacing the shaft by editing the shape of the floor (wich now is cut by the shaft) But I guess you have your reasons to have a shaft. Do you really need a shaft for this situation?

If you want to keep the shaft you can place your ceilings in linked model. Shafts won't cut through linked elements and they can still be scheduled.

Another strategy I've used is that on High-Rises I would Group the Floors in that I would have one that would fill out all the Levels/Ranges, then another group for the unique "Slab Edge" conditions. Maybe you could do the same/similar for "Shafts"?

Thanks all for your feedback, in the end I resorted to the unique slab edge condition and stopped the shaft short of the trouble levels
