Curtain Wall Storefront Wall - Custom mullions join issue

I want to preface by saying, when I create glazed openings, I prefer using the curtain wall Storefront tool over the window tool, because I can click, drag, and make large panels of glass, and the mullions automatically are placed. The default mullion type is a simple aluminum rectangular mullion which enables the same mullion type to be used for the sides, tops and middle, and they join perfectly at the corners at 90 degrees. This is ideal and convenient. The question is, can this be done with hollow metal custom made mullions?

For our project, we are using hollow metal mullions, which have a little bump in the profile and wrap around the wall, therefore, a separate mullion profile is needed for the top, each side and bottom. Is there a way to get the top side and bottom mullions to join correctly at the corners, almost in the same way a roof fascia joins on the corners?

If the profiles for head, jamb and sill are the same--no problem.
If they are different, not sure they will clean up properly.

Use two curtain walls, one for the main section and one for the “bump”. I have a HM curtain wall like this that I can post when I return from vaca on Fri. In the meantime the beach is nice

well, I'm back. I don't do hollow metal frames very often and I did the HM curtain wall type for a particular project and now I can't find the wall types anywhere. I usually save them to my library but I was obviously going fast as I did not do this. What I did was not particularly difficult so if you'll post a picture of your glazed frame and door frame HM sections I'll put together some quick curtain wall types to show you what I mean. They're like nested curtain walls.

One thing that I thought about while enjoying the waves is, one cannot miter the corners using Revit curtain wall. Real life HM frames generally have the corners of the main frame mitered and welded and the applied stops are butted inside the frame opening for the verticals and between the verticals for the horizontals (I have seen HM frames that are not mitered too but not very often). So, while the corners will clean up nicely they don't look like they really should. If the mitered corners are important to you I'd go back to a window family.

I don't think you'll get the clean join you're after with curtain wall... since that doesn't happen in the real world as CW is extrusions pieced together. I guess they do mitre extrusions in the real world

I treat HM windows (borrowed lites) the same way as doors. Sweep a profile, easy. If the jambs/head/sill are different, then use different profiles and then join the geometry in the family.

Hi, what are you trying to accomplish? HM framing with glazing and door stops? Curtain wall with appendages (fins, etc), or what? Nesting curtain walls are a great way to accomplish all of this. But I'm not sure what sample I was going to post from way back in June
