    Concrete and stone wall

    What is the best way to make wall like in picture? It is concrete with stone finish... What I am most concerned about is how to make stone appear on the top of the wall too.. like on picture

    I see 4 walls there

    1. concrete
    2. stone on the left side
    3. stone on the right side
    4. stone on top

    Join 2, 3 and 4 and you have your wall

      I see three walls and a roof, or three walls and a wall sweep. But yeah, same concept as Robin.

        Would 1 Wall with 3 layers (stone+conc+stone) and a roof work?

          It would work, but in my experience and I know also in Aaron's, having walls separated by layer is a better way to do any wall in the long run. But it does depend on the wall. If any of the layers bottom or top constraint are different separate layers is a must for me. But also things like scheduling will work much better with separate walls.

          The scheduling is also the reason why I would do the top bit as a wall instead of a floor too.

              Certain wall typed I will bundle together as one wall type, like sheathing over metal studs, or brick over air space. But concrete and cmu are always separate and on their own, in my world.

              What Robin says above makes total sense. I defer to wall sweeps or roofs because (typically here) the top of that wall isn't flat, it's sloped.

              But we're splitting hairs.

                yep sheeting over metalstud is 1 wall for me as well and air space I usually don't model.

                The top of the walls have many different ways of being done here, from a brick soldier layer (flat on top like the OP posted) to very intricate pieces of masonry or prefab concrete. So I guess it all depends on the situation, type of wall and info that is needed from all the geometry.

                Good lesson here is to think about stuff first and not go mad modelling as much as possible as fast as possible with the risk of needing to do stuff for a second time.

                  Thank you guys for all you advice... I will try wall on top, wall on the left and right and another wall on top, join all together and send the photo or the result ;-) soon
