    hosting Rail on Model In-Place Components

    Hi,i wanted to know whether it is possible to draw or host a rail sketch on a wall that is created in revit model in-place?

    i have modeled a wall and then wanted to host my rail on the edge of that model but i couldn't ( it didn't actually let me select anything of that model in-placed object)

    is there any solution or trick to do so?

    no matter it is of any other family categories(walls,floor,generic model,...) just looking for the solution.

    do not use model in place
    make a wall
    edit the profile and use it as a host

      Exactly, but this is only possible in Revit 2017 onwards (in our office, most of the jobs are still in Revit 2016!).

        Well... lets to imagine.
        ....mmmmm.....

        What about make a roof by extrusion (a very thin roof)
        You can atach wall to roof
        and use roof as host for railing

          Thanks duende123 for you're response,but because of the format of the model i have to use model in-place.
          I've tried different techniques but unfortunately non of them worked for me!!!

          i think that's a bit irrational that you can't host other things on a model which is defined as wall category in model in-place.whatever i would be happy if anyone can help me with this issue.
