    worksets - visibility settings

    hello
i discovered on a file of one of our subcontractor an amazing thing :
on the visibility settings of the workset there are several type of setting
    Use global setting (visible)
    Use global setting (not visible)
    Show
    Hide
I've ever seen "use global setting (visible) and i didn't understand what was it use for because in my mind it had the same result of "show".
my question is :how can you make a use global setting (not visible) and how do you use it
second question what is the difference between use global setting (not visible)/hide and use global setting (visible)/show?
    thanks
    Phil
PS : i realised that the worksets which are "not visible" are linked files(IFC, RVT or else...)

Worksets dialogue has a check box "visible in all views" for each workset. This sets default behaviour for any view not pre configured otherwise.
Setting "show" or "hide" in VV or VT will override default setting.

I've seen people use worksets set to not show by default as a method for design options. Bad move

I honestly wish there was a way to disable worksets. They only cause problems at my MEP firm.

Then do it. Open detached and tell Revit to dump the worksets. You’ll be the only one who can work on the project but you won’t have worksets!
