    Calculated Schedule Value - Combine Text Values

    I am trying to make a drawing list which will combine two values into one sheet mark value which will go onto my drawing list on the cover sheet

    My project requires a stage identifier which is common for the entire project which I have made a shared parameter for, I then create a sheet number with the built in sheet number, my titleblock displays both of these values as one parmater

    But I havent found a way to get this to work in my drawing index other than having two columns and justifying and positioning them so the look correct! :banghead:

    Is it possible to do this with a calculated value?

    I am happy to be corrected by one of the gurus, but to the best of my knowledge what you are after cannot be achieved without resorting to an API.

    The whole way the drawing lists are compiled is pretty basic and it would be nice if they got a makeover from Autodesk.

      I'm sorry but this won't work. You can't use Calculated Values on text.
      What you can do is try to format the columns so that one outlines to the right and the second to the left. I don't know if that's actually possible or if this fixes your problem.

        Thought as much, that's what I have done so far with the formatting to get it to work. You can actually add a text value as the formula if you put it in quotation marks but it falls over if you try anything else.

          Concatenation, right? That's what you are trying to do. Combining text from two different fields into another. No, it's not possible yet with the available tools. It's on the wishlist for future versions.

          The only workaround is to do a list of integers and set their values to text. That is possible. For example, if "certain field" is 1 (integer), then this "other field" (text) is "such", etc, etc...

            Realize youre still going to have trouble, if you need to have an A-201 on both stages. Since you are using a seperate parameter, that will mean having two sheets called A-201, which youre only going to be able to do if you keep the sheets in a different file.

            I know its ugly, but just go the NCS route and include it in the sheet number. 2A-201 or (NCS road) A-201-2. Youll hate the way it looks.... for a few hours. Then youll be over it.

              Now I am not the best programer in the world by any means, but I really think that making a Concatenation API should be relativly easy. Making it go into a cell ctrl+c then the other ctrl+p and continuous. I was planning on looking into this at some point, but like I said, my programing skills with Revit are meek.
