I have viewports that (as far as I know) I'm not using and I cannot purge. I think this means I have to start my template over again. Anyone have any idea what I must have missed the first time around? What are strategies to prevent this?

Rebuilding template; have Viewports I can't purge

They come in automatically during some commands, like TPS, or insert from file. You can't purge them out, and- what's worse- even though they aren't "in use," they are in use behind the scenes: if you delete them with Dynamo, tons of views and sheets get deleted also.
I don't know how to prevent it. Because I used a boxed viewport type, I have 50 viewports in the template anyway. So when one sneaks in, I convert to to one of my 50 and delete one of mine. LOL

pyRevit App has a tool that can prep them to get them purged. In the Project Panel (at the end) you'll see a tool group called "Wipe". Select it to choose "Fix Unpurgable Viewport Types". It will then allow you swap them (or any existing instances) to your "standard" ones. Then after the conversion you can go to Purge to select them.Last edited by cftrevizo; May 14, 2018, 04:00 PM.
