Stretchable line with text reporting it's length

I'm trying to build a generic family that's little more than a line and arrow that can be stretched and have it's length report to schedules. That part was easy. Now I have a request to have a bit of text that adjusts in real time as the line gets longer. We're trying to remove the need to tag each line individually on the drawings. The overall length of all lines of that type still will show up in the schedules.

Is this even possible and if so, what kind of rain dance do I have to do to make it happen?

Generic Annotation nested in to the Line Based Family. Instance parameter in the GC, thats linked to Length in the Family.
