Link Civils 3D IFC file to Revit (2017.2) - location problems

    The problem:

IFC files created by consultants from Civils 3D are refusing to locate correctly in revit...

So the IFC models when loaded into a IFC viewer (doesn't matter which one we've tried) works fine, all sit together nice and tidy.

Linking the IFC file to Revit, the files load somewhere 100's of km away. if they we're in the same ballpark, we could align with reference points (not ideal but needs must)

I had a stab at creating a basic IFC model from Autocad Architecture, and it gives the exact same results.

anyone know what the heck is going on with this? we want to be able to see the IFC files in our Revit model and don't see any settings that can help us locate them correctly :banghead:

Allthough it is EXACTLY the same ifc export function as found in ACA the units of the ifc coming from AutoCAD civil3d are in m. (metrical). You are aware of that?

It's heart breaking... I did notice that today when i was testing the survey point & proj base point in the rte for opening ifc's but couldn't get the idea of how to solve it.

still no closer to making them come together though...

Why do you need civil ifc in buildings anyway?
Ifc is complete worthless from a civil point of view, just use dwg or clean sat files like we all do. For the GEOMETRY.. ;-)

We've been using the CAD where we can so far, the main gripe is being able to cut sections though it which CAD can't do without doing the old load into a family hack.
We've been doing this so far, but now have a dozen or so Civils files & going through an intense design period with frequent updates, making the CAD hack painful at best. We just want to be able to load and forget.

          edit:
should also add, as to why we want their files, besides Topo ,there's a tonne of below ground services we're interfacing with & building around/through etc.

I agree. Its a painful job. Maybe just someday Autodesk sees some bucks in making their software dwg cut compatible without going through all the hoops. But i doubt if ifc has less.

            Edit:..Dynamo..:bb: ..?
