    Combining roofs

    Hi!
I am in progress in building a model of my home, but I have trouble combining my dormer roof to the main roof. When creating my roofs I have used the "modify sub element"-command and added split lines to create all the slopes on the roofs (see attached picture). By using "modify sub element" on the dormer it won't attach to the main roof when using "join roof". If I instead of adding split lines, I define the sides to slope, it will attach, but then I have trouble creating the forward slope as shown in the picture. Does anybody know how to solve this? Hope I made myself clear and I appreciate all answers

I would change my roof sketch to die into the main roof, rather than drawing a rectangle and trying to attach it.

For a pitched roof, it's better to control the pitch by assigning a slope to the sketch lines. The sketch line for the forward slope of the roof would have an offset from roof base (found in the properties when the line is selected).

Edit: Like Chad, I draw my footprints to represent the finished shape rather than joining roofs.

        Thank you both for answering!
        Cellophane: your method worked nicely!
Kowen1208: I have some trouble doing it by your method but I will keep trying some more and see if I get it

knowen1208: I got it now. I didn't draw the footprint like the finished shape though. I managed to measure how high the base offset was going to be, and then I joined the roofs. Thanks again!

Regarding the footprint shape, I was referring to the angled lines that follow the valleys in Chad's image, in case that wasn't clear.
