    Topo sources in Revit

I'm look for different ways to bring topography into revit. Basically any source will be high enough quality for our current purposes. Here's what we're dealing with:
    • Client is developing a small ski resort
    • Client has provided lidar scan of several thousand acres, and is too big for any of our machines to handle
    • Client wants to see structures and terrain in Enscape

We could send the Revit files to Sketchup and bring in Google Earth topo there, but then we have to fix all the materials. I've looked into ways to bring topo from various sources into Revit, but I'm not coming up with much. I found something about a Globe Link Revit add-in, but that appears to be discontinued. I found CADtoEarth, but that looks to have a somewhat bad rating. Is there a reliable solution available?

why not make the Topo surface in SketchUp then Import into Revit?

I like to draw my own contour lines in SketchUp by intersecting planes through the import Google Earth Terrain, which will create contours. You could then import these floating contours into Revit and make a topo surface just like if you had a survey CAD file.

Creating a topographic map can be a huge pain in the neck. If you've ever tried to get GIS data or find a city topographic map you know exactly what I mean....

or could do something like this

5 min Revit tutorial. ... Hey all, I made this video a few years ago for a colleague and never meant for it to get 62k views! I'm sorry there was no audio on...

I've seen a couple work-arounds using Sketchup that look pretty simple. Now if only we had Sketchup...

if you're really in a pinch the 30 day free trials of SketchUP always help!

If you have the Design Suite with Navisworks, it has a dedicated toolset for Google Earth.
We needed to import our Revit model into Google Earth, and used this tool and it worked great.
I think we exported an .fbx from Revit, imported into Navisworks and dropped it into Google Earth.

Not really in a pinch; This project has moved at a snail's pace over the last couple of years.

              Navisworks Simulate or Manage?

Manage for sure, not sure about Simulate?

civil 3d- create dwg topo from point cloud

import dwg to revit and create surface from that
