Revit 2018: Issue transferring schedules between projects

    Revit 2018: Issue transferring schedules between projects

    In the past (version 2015-16) I've been able to open up 2 revit projects side by side then from a sheet view in project A. select a schedule (ex. general notes) and copy it to clip board. Then move over to project B. and simply paste the schedule from clip board to the sheet view in the new project without any problems. When I go through the same sequence now the pasted schedule shows up on the sheet but its missing the the text data. Im wondering if its a schedule type problem; has anyone experienced this issue as well?

    What kind of a Schedule is that?
    Typically, the formatting of the schedule will come across, but the values would be coming from data in the project, not from the schedule itself.

      it looks like a key schedule. I was able to copy a key schedule from one project to another with no issues, but it is hard to say why the OP's schedule didn't copy correctly without seeing what they did

        I believe it's a keynote schedule. It looks like it was set up as a dummy type schedule, it has editable text in the cells.

          select the schedule in your project browser, right click & copy to clipboard. In your other project, open a view (not a schedule) and paste it in (Ctrl+V) That should work (and is what I did a bit ago)

            Hmm.. That's how I remember it working previously, a simple cut and paste exercise but its still pasting a blank schedule with missing fields and data as shown in the original screen shot. I also tried the insert views from another file route and its does the same. Do I need to transfer project info / standards prior to cutting and pasting so the new project has the fields etc associated with the schedule or should they just get brought over when I cut and paste?

                The Issue Might Be Duplicate Fields

                I was having the same issue but managed to resolve it when I changed the name of my text field.
                When you copy from one project to another, make sure that the project you are copying into does not have a schedule with a field of the same name as what you are pasting.

                For example:
                When pasting, my Notes field was missing. I already had a schedule with a Notes field in that project, therefore I changed the name to Residential - Notes. Then I tried pasting again, and nothing was missing.

                  Guys, everyone stop, and look at the image.

                  Its not working because thats an Internal Point Load schedule, that was *hacked* to LOOK like a Keynote schedule, so someone just had free reign to type what they wanted.

                  Which means when you paste it in the new project, nothing happens, because there is no DATA in the new project, to fill it in with.

                  Revit is doing exactly what it should, because someone did something to make that schedule that they absolutely shouldnt have.

                  EDIT: I got caught, and necroposted. LMAO. But in my defense, someone necroposted it before me, so it looked current. Whoops!
