    how to mark the panels

    Hi,

    I modelled some sandwichpanels;

    -these are existing of 3 different type (3 familynames);
    - every type with different width and heights;
    - some sandwichpanels are same;
    - and a number of them are mirrored / flipped.

    Question:
    I want to mark / give a name to these SW-panels(sandwichpanels). Just like SW-01, SW-02 ed. If I will mark each SW-panel, I will spend very much time to mark and compare all the SW-panels (total 160 pieces).

    Are there some tools in revit to generic the marks for SW-panels? Or may-be add-in?

    Kind regards,

    peter smith

    no easy button I'm afraid. I'd do this with a schedule and sort them by type, width, height, etc then add the marks in the schedule. Then you could crossing window select everything in your project, filter out your panels, and do an Annotate/Tag All to tag them in one go. I build my panels from a GM template changing the category to Specialty Equipment to allow them to be scheduled and my panels have built in every conceivable parameter for sorting and tagging. Size, shape, thickness, makeup, finish ext, finish int, floor location, elevation location, frame mark location, etc.

    Another option that I'm just starting to investigate is the use of Dynamo to shorten this process

      Thx, Dave Jones. I sort the SW-panels by made by myself shared parameters (sw-paneltype, width and heights). Yesterday I also discovered that I idd can mark them in the schedule.

      Just one item after. I still miss how I (can enable) regconize the flipped / mirrored SW-panels.

        What’s different about the non flipped and flipped panel? For me I never flip (or mirror) panels in a project. I do that in the family environment and make a different type which then can be sorted into a group and marked that way. If it’s to late for you to do that now in your project figure out what’s different about them and parameterize one differently than the other

          Dynamo CAN tell you which ones are mirrored, flipped, or both. And you can have it automatically fill that information out in a parameter.

          I mean, you can have it auto number your types, too. It's great start stuff like that.
