    DATA Extraction from REVIT…. (2018)

    DATA Extraction from REVIT…. (2018)

    To the Group,
I did notice there was a post about this several years ago. That all being said, I just wanted to see if there has been any updates for 2018...
This question has several parts and actually may lead to more question about functionality than answers so here goes…

1.) From REVIT, “How do you EXTRACT DATA”?
2.) Is there a set way, or standard procedure for Extracting Data?

3.) Why does an entire project need to be in REVIT to Extract the Data?
4.) Once we get the Data, how do we publish it or make it useful, (question #2)?

Again, depending upon whom you work for or if there is a State / National standard I would believe there may be several ways to answer these questions.
As usual, “Thanks in advance for any help or information.”
    Regards,

extracting data? What sort of data are you trying to extract?

        I agree with Patrick.
What you're asking is the equivalent of asking an Architect:
"How do you design a building?"

You can export via DB Link to a database. Take a look:

Use Autodesk Revit DB Link to export Revit project data to a database, make changes to the data, and import it back into the Revit project.

Agree with others...it depends on what data you want. But here is an example of an "everything" export to excel using an App for BIM 360. Here's a link to the app, and i've including an example XLSX file of the output (Had to ZIP the file to meet upload limitation). When you open the Excel file, the data is organized in Tabs across the bottom for every Revit category, and all parameters associated with those objects.

This application demonstrates how to extract Autodesk® Revit® data on Autodesk® 360, Autodesk® BIM 360® or Autodesk Construction Cloud™ (ACC) account into an Excel spreadsheet.

Nowt wrong with that question, so long as the emphasis is on the "you".

To which, were I asked, I would answer (not as an Architect) "Spectacularly!" then skip merrily into the distance.

Extraction can be done with this plugin with FME.
                  Others, i don't know.
Use the FME Exporter for Revit for versions 2018 and older. If using 2019+ versions, export your files directly in Revit's exporter system.
