Pulling parameters from a linked file

I am trying to use Dynamo to pull parameter info from a linked Mechanical model and use it to populate the corresponding piece of equipment in my Electrical model.

Please see the active discussion here:

I'm hoping a Dynamo guru can provide me with some insight. Perhaps even a better method of approaching the task.

    Thanks,
    Jake

    Hello Gerta,

Could you please provide a sample project? I'm not an MEP engineer and this would provide me with a base to get it working! You're very close to getting it working, but there are some improvements I can suggest. I can whip them up if you get me the model

        Hello Gerta,

I'm not quite sure I'm setting up the file correctly - please tell me if this is right...

For some reason, I'm not getting the results you are.

I have opened the 'A' model (Architectural?), and linked in the 'MP' and 'E' models. I tried by Shared Coordinates but one failed - so I manually moved them into place.

I'm still getting no intersections sadly.

The premise of what you need to do is, however, pair up your files. You could use a dictionary for this which would make it easier and simpler rather than using GetItemAtIndex and so on.

Any thoughts on the set-up? I get this result so far:

Sorry, some explanation would have been nice on my end.
You’ll be working out of the E model. The A and MP models should be linked already, but you’ll have to repath them. If you navigate to the floor plan sheet? You’ll see a note in red. The copy/monitor progress is finished, so it should just be a matter of running the dyn script and getting the correct results.

Again, I really appreciate your assistance with this.

Ok cool! Quick question ... Are these the results you're expecting?

In essence, Linked file has 10 families (EF-1, FCU-1 etc).

Live 'E' Model has 6 families (All 'Motor')

            Geometry.DoesIntersect
picks up multiple 'trues' for some - and none for others.

Yes, during the copy/monitor, I brought in only the 6 pieces of MECH equipment that I am interested in (see EDS below). The "P-1" is considered plumbing equipment and I decided not to bring that in for this experiment.

Apologies Gertz, I had hoped to look at this before I left. I'm currently in New Zealand at a stag-do / wedding so don't have time to play for a while.

Hopefully someone else can help! If not, i'll have time in a week or two to look at this.
