any way to have existing phase show materiality?

I want to do a rendering of my project (existing brick townhouse with an addition on the rear), and only the new construction objects will show up with any materiality. Is there a way to have my existing phase show the proper materials?

Exit render dialogue, in the View properties set the Phase Filter to a correct setting (you probably have it set to the default "Show All")

You can create a custom set of Phase filters to not show demolished (or temporary) but which does show existing without override.

All you need to do is remove the "Material" from the Graphic Overrides in the Phase settings. I never understood why people use it, anyway. Our "Existing" Graphical Overrides change Lineweight, and Line Color, but there is no material override. That way walls still have layers, items still have materials, and everything looks the way we like.... Just lighter.
