COBIE - where do i get the families!

    Hi
I currently work for an MEP contractor and I am required to produce a model with COBIE data. All the standards are in place from an external BIM manager and I know many challenges lie ahead but my initial question is where do I get the families for all the specific components that are required that are COBIE compatible. eg where do I get all the families for the AHU's, valves (of which there are many types), pumps, fan coil units, attenuators etc etc....the list goes on. Not many of the suppliers produce the families required, the consultant has simply missed even generic families from the model so I cant even use that and I have always struggled to find specific revit content. Creating families is not an option - we don't have the time or budget, simple as that. Is there not some sort of standard COBIE block that can be used for components e.g. a valve, fcu or ahu that can be manipulated to match simple geometric requirements? If there is not then why not? we should be simplifying a difficult process as much as possible. I don't care if it doesn't look exactly like the component just as long as I can have the parameters for the data and it is geometrically accurate in the x,y and z. any advice would be greatly appreciate ..Many thanks

I dont think such a thing as a cobie block/family exists after all cobie is just filled in data in a parameter. take a light fitting for example you can take any generic family from out the box revit that looks something like, re name it to the correct manufacture & model, run the cobie tool kit this will add all the reliant parameters, fill the data in & thats it. we export schedules into excel & get the relevant site people to fill in the necessary info for each type of kit then import that back into revit so it populates all the info for the cobie drop.

If your expecting to find Familys with info in the correct parameters so the info will just automatically export in a Cobie drop then im afraid your going to be disappointed
