PRoblem: picture with transparent backround, bad working performance in Revit

    Hi
I am trying to draw a floor plan from a plan I have as a pdf-file.
So I made a picture, edited it with gimp, made it a little brighter
    and imported it in revit.

Now this works ok. The overall working performance - zooming, panning - works good.

Now since the backround of the picture is white i cannot see an underlay. All underlays get coverd by the picture.
    So I edited picture again.
I deleted the white backround or made it transparent.
When I reload the picture in Revit. working performance becomes really slow

Zooming to details sometimes doesn't work at all. The pictuer vanishes.

SOmebody has an explanation for this kind of manner?

The picture size with transparent backround is slightly larger but as I read on some posts
Revit supports pictures with an alpha channel (transparent colors).

    Any thoughts from somebody? Thx

Reinsert your original image. Select it, right click, override in view and bump up the transparency.

Any reason you cant just draw your plan without importing an image? Looking at a printout or even just on screen in windows viewer wont make it any less accurate.

      Hi,
it is not possible to make a picture transparent with the override function in Revit.

No, no, I want the picture as an underlay, thats what the function is for.
It is possible in any cad system!

Revit isn't any cad system. I guess you're stuck with draw in or foreground. Or create a decal. Or a material lol.

I can say that PDF's in AutoCAD generally make panning/zooming painfully slow also.

What version of revit are you using? I rarely (actually never, if I can avoid it) link a pdf as a image to work with, but as I understand it, revit 2018 has a PDF insertion tool that should handle pdf's just fine. If you are using an older version, upgrade it, all licences are subscriptions these days. And if you are still on a perpetual licence then you are paying like 30-40% more than you would on a subscription...so change it...

no, no, thats no possible in Revit 2018. no pdfs als . No linking of pdfs, nor importing, just pictures.

you need to make a picture from your pdf and import in in Revit.
It's possible in Acad, I know.

I have R 2018 installed. Not using it because other project parties using the 2017 version.

            THx, though for answering.
