Wall Hatch in Reflected Ceiling Plan

    Hello all,

I am having a problem with my wall hatches disappearing in my reflected ceiling plans. It does not appear to be anything due to VG, Object Styles, filters, or anything I can think of as the hatches show up correctly in my floor plans.

Can anyone think of a reason why?

Is you RCP at Coarse LOD?

I have tried Coarse, and both Medium and Fine.

I also realized that the filter-overriden patterns act differently in RCP. In normal floor plans, the filter-overridden patterns act as model patterns when the detail level is Coarse and drafting patterns when the detail level is Medium or Fine, but in RCP, the filter-overridden patterns act as drafting patterns no matter the detail level.

Is this just a Revit bug in RCP?

Does anyone have a workaround for wall hatches in RCP?

Thats not correct. Model Patterns and Drafting Patterns are completely different things. In VG: Filters Pattern overrides, you are only seeing Drafting Patterns. And my Filters (which override Wall Patterns in Plan and RCP using the same Filter) all work fine, so im not sure what you are seeing.

My guess is something else is interfering with the Pattern. Do you have patterns turned off in VG:Model:Wall?

Patterns will behave *differently* if the materials in the layers in the wall are not all set to have their hatch "Orient to Object."

Thanks for the reply, Aaron. It seems as though you are mostly correct. However, I still have one Filter Pattern override (Shear Wall pattern) that acts funny as I had mentioned in my earlier post. As this is the only pattern that this weird behavior works for, I am all the more confused. I have attached some screenshots to illustrate this weird behavior.

As for my wall hatch disappearing in the RCP plan, all settings are the same in both plans. There are no filters, no VG overrides, no view-specific overrides, and with the same view range. The only difference is that one plan is looking up and the other is looking down.

Im not so convinced its actually doing anything wrong yet.

Walls can have Coarse Overrides, in the Wall Type. And, it may also depend on the settings of that Hatch Patterns that are in the materials of the wall composition. Yep, it matters. I make sure ALL materials in my template have a cut pattern assigned, and that the PATTERN itself is set to Orient to Element, and not to view. It absolutely affects how patterns show up in objects, even if the pattern is put there with a Filter.

Unfortunately it also freaks some people out, you know, because it looks different from how they used to do it and they have nothing better to bitch about.

Yep: I use Filters on my walls in RCP. Works great?

Why not post the file so others here can help you figure out whats wrong?
