    C4R - "Cannot open linked document "

Hi - We are using the new and improved desktop connector where now you can have non c4r revit files (i.e. from other consultants) linked into your c4r workshared files. Works as expected EXCEPT for this situation.
BIM 360 Revit files linked and attached to C4R revit file.
That C4R revit file is then linked into another C4R revit file: an error message pops up saying "Cannot open linked document <lists the BIM 360 files>. The links will be unloaded"
Even thou the files, and directory listed do exist

    In our specific example:
Non C4R files are all the apartment layouts by a non C4R team.
These are placed into the BIM360 folder and linked into multiple C4R revit buildings, in multiple locations - all good so far
Those C4R buildings are then linked into a multiple of other C4R files, including the site model, and services engineer’s models etc: but within those models you cant see any of the apartment models.

Following...I'm having the same issue. Not able to load a keynote text file. Receive the error message: "Autodesk Drive encountered an unknown error."

desktop connector with linked files only works in revit 2018.2 (and newer)....what version of Revit are you using?

Cannot link text file for keynotes

        Hi Scott,

I'm running Revit 2018.2. I had a consultant load in the keynote text file, but then they (and I) were not able to adjust the schedules to show any of their data. The formatting of the text file is fine since I was able to change one of my keynotes to match their newly added keynote.

In our particular example, Ive done a test project and replicated the problem: its broken down like this (3 projects)
Project 1. Nested Linked Project: Is a nonshared project residing in c:\BIM360 team linked and attached to Project 2:
Project 2. Intermediate Project: Is a C4R shared project linked into Project 3.
Project 3. Final Project: Is a C4R shared project: It cant find Project 1 and therefore it doesn’t show.

This has been confirmed as a limitation by Autodesk

To summarise - nested links attached through BIM360 desktop connector to C4R projects are not supported
          Using 2018.2

            Alex,
Thanks for the note about Autodesk confirming that nested links are not supported through BIM360 Desktop Connector C4R projects.
Apologies if I hijacked your thread here...first time forum posting and this was the only thread I could find similar to my issue.
