    BIM to point cloud

I'm starting to get into artificial intelligence, and want to make a point cloud from my BIM model to help 'train' an algorithm to do some classification/feature extraction. Is a "BIM to scan" workflow possible?

Yep. Something like APL (formerly Get The Point) can mass spread points. Hell, Dynamo can do it. Its just density, and memory... lol

Definitely interested in hearing more on this.

Is your final workflow to create elements from scans?

If so, there is company that already does this...

i HOPE that he is referring to taking what software like edgewise already does and taking it a step further.....There is no reason why software cannot go through a similar process that we do as we model from scan data....the measured points obtain color from images that provide a lot more information then just points to the human eye

having software identify finishes and materials is really where it becomes interesting...

and to be clear you are still telling the current applications what everything is...there is no software that identifies beyond just basic geometry...it is still a very time-consuming process to go and remove all of the "false positives"

I can provide scan data if that would be of any help
