Metric Level Head - Unwanted space between elevation and unit

As the title says, I have a metric level head which displays values in Metres and I have an unwanted space between the elevation value and the 'm' which I want to get rid off but so far I haven't found a way to do it. Any googled images of imperial level heads show no space between the feet and inches apostrophes.

You might be able to edit the label
Edit the Units format of the label, and replace the m with a Suffix instead

might work?

Level Elevation Units?

Is there a way to have the units that levels use not be per Project units? I want Project units to be Ft/Inches and levels to be Decimal feet.

UK uses metric or imperial?

this is probably a dumb question.. UK firms use metric units right? I was talking to a guy who told me that in UK you guys used to use imperial units...
